THE CHANGEMAKERS AWARDS FOR THE TOP EMPLOYERS OF YOUNG PEOPLE

Apply now for the awards for the top employers of young people. The awards recognise and celebrate employers who value, develop and recognise their young employees. These awards will reach beyond the realms of other awards which focus purely on graduate employers, and instead recognise organisations which employ young people from a variety of backgrounds and with different levels of qualifications and experience.

WHAT WILL EMPLOYERS BE AWARDED FOR?

Applicants are invited to demonstrate the role that young people have in management and leadership positions within their organisation, the development and progression opportunities for young people, and the ways in which recruitment takes into account values, attitudes and behaviours of young people, not just experience.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

The awards programme is now open and the deadline for applications is 31^st January 2012. If your organisation is successful at the short-listing stage a staff interview will be conducted by one of the young people we work with during February or March 2012. The winners will be selected by our judging panel and an awards ceremony will take place in spring 2012.

Boris Johnson is calling on Londoners to nominate their top volunteers for the first annual Team London Achievement Awards by 1 February 2012.

The awards will celebrate the positive effect volunteering can have in our communities and recognise the unsung heroes who give up their time to help others. London-based individual volunteers, teams or volunteering organisations can be nominated, and efforts must benefit London or Londoners.

Team London will give out four awards under each of the following categories:

•Improving Community Safety

• Increasing Youth Opportunities

•Building Stronger Neighbourhoods

•Cleaning & Greening London One of the nominees will also receive a special Mayor’s Award.

Archant London 24 will also present an award to the top Team London star, chosen from the hundreds nominated. The Team London Achievement Awards will be managed in partnership with Greater London Volunteering (GLV). Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in March.

The Young Foundation is working in partnership with the Markfield project to develop new social business activity using our experience in developing exciting and sustainable new social ventures. The successful candidates will be invited to take part in a number of training workshops at the Young Foundation, equipping them with the latest tools and knowledge in the social innovation and investment sector.

We are looking to recruit two interns for two excitingly different but connected roles, we are after people who are:

·         able to think creatively and follow ideas through to completion

The Access Project, a charity supported by the Bulldog Trust since 2010, helps students from disadvantaged backgrounds excel in their school careers and achieve the necessary grades to enter top universities. The Access Project is setting up a social enterprise – a high-end private tutoring agency in London – to create sustainable income for the charity and reduce its reliance on donor funding. The ambition is to have the tutoring agency operating by Easter 2012 and within 5 years, build a business selling over 10,000 hours of tuition.

The Access Project is looking for a charismatic, dedicated and motivated Managing Director to launch and build the tutoring business. This entrepreneurial individual will be passionate about education, and have the business expertise required to build a profitable enterprise.

The workshop starts in exactly four weeks, and we need to get the registrations up to 30 by this time next week. If you think that you could spread the word to anybody between the ages of 18-25 that is currently unemployed, please do.

The course is completely free, the participants just need to be able to attend both full days on the 2nd & 7th February.
